No sales on Etsy? 12 things to check (and fix this week)
First work out which problem you have. No views means buyers aren’t finding you – a search problem. Views but no sales means the listing isn’t convincing them – a photo, price or trust problem.
If you have few views
- Too few listings. Under 20 gives Etsy little to show. Keep listing steadily.
- Vague titles. Lead with the exact phrase a buyer types, not a poetic name.
- Weak tags. Use all 13, as 2–3 word phrases. Run them through the tag checker.
- Wrong category or missing attributes. They’re free extra ways to be found.
- Out of season. Christmas prints listed in December are too late – see the seasonal timings in getting your first sale.
If you have views but no sales
- First photo. It must read clearly at thumbnail size, styled in a real room.
- Too few photos. Aim for 8+: rooms, close-up, frame options, size guide. See Etsy mockups that sell.
- Price out of line. Compare like for like with shops selling similar prints.
- Delivery cost or time. Free UK delivery and honest times help.
- No reviews yet. Look after early buyers – see customer care that earns reviews.
- Thin description. Sizes, paper, what’s included, delivery.
- Unclear shop. A mixed range with no theme feels less trustworthy.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to get a first sale on Etsy?
It varies widely – some shops sell in the first week, many take a few months. A focused range of 20–50 well-made listings, priced competitively, shortens it.
Should I use Etsy Ads to get my first sale?
A small daily budget can help Etsy learn who your listings suit, but fix photos, titles and tags first – ads can’t make a weak listing convert.
