Etsy’s fees for UK sellers in 2026

FeeWhat it is
Listing feeUS$0.20 (about 15p) each time a listing is published or renewed – including the automatic renewal when an item sells
Transaction fee6.5% of the item price plus the delivery you charge (and gift wrapping)
Payment processing4% + 20p for UK shops
Regulatory operating fee0.48% of the order total for UK shops
Offsite ads15% of the order (12% once you pass US$10,000 sales in a year), capped at US$100 – only when an Etsy ad elsewhere made the sale
VAT on Etsy’s fees20% on top of all of the above, unless you’re VAT-registered and your VAT number is on Etsy

Most sellers forget the last two. On a £24.99 print with no VAT number, Etsy’s fees come to about £3.70 – and an offsite ad sale takes about £4.50 more.

How to use the number

Many print sellers aim to keep at least 30% of the price after every cost. If the calculator shows less, either the price is too low or the cost is too high – try the price calculator to see what to charge.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take from a sale in the UK?

For a UK shop without a VAT number, around 14–15% of a typical £20–£50 order once VAT on fees is added: 6.5% transaction, 4% + 20p payment processing, 0.48% regulatory fee and the 15p listing renewal, plus 20% VAT on those fees. Offsite ads add up to 15% more (plus VAT) on the sales they bring.

Does Etsy charge VAT on its fees?

Yes for UK sellers who haven’t added a VAT number to Etsy – 20% on top of every fee. VAT-registered sellers with their number on Etsy aren’t charged it, but they owe VAT on their own UK sales instead.

Can I opt out of offsite ads?

Only if your shop made under US$10,000 in the last 12 months. Above that, offsite ads are compulsory at 12% – so it’s worth pricing so an ad sale still makes a profit.
